Unnat Bharat Abhiyan
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to help and build the architecture of an inclusive India. The aim is to create a virtuous cycle between society and an inclusive academic system by providing knowledge and practices for emerging professions and to upgrade the capabilities of both the public and the private sectors in respond to the development needs of rural India. The current policy context urges institutions of national importance to adopt villages and develop appropriate technologies. WISE, Prakasaraopalem is the coordinating institute of UBA. Dr.M.Aravind Kumar, is the Coordinator of UBA Cell, WISE, Prakasaraopalem.
The UBA Cell of WISE has formed an inter-disciplinary team of faculty members and support staff. UBA provides an opportunity to channelise the energy of students and faculty with measurable outcomes. We are mandated to work through the network of available units in the Institute and will also try to collaborate with various community stakeholders. For instance, the UBA Cell of WISE will work hand in hand with NSS, NCC units, Engineering Projects In Community Service (EPICS), and various centres of excellence of WISE. We have identified few villages around our campus and chosen to work on select themes. We hope to develop villages around our campus as model villages and then scale it up throughout West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.
